Available Formats Explained

Mocap ATLAS products can be purchased in different download formats depending on the product. Choose the exact format and license from the product options before adding the item to your cart. The complete bundle, where available, contains every available source, prepared, retargeted, and reference format for that product.

Raw mocap source data

Raw mocap products contain the complete recorded source animation from start to end, including T-pose or calibration sections where present. These files are meant for trimming, editing, retargeting, animation cleanup, motion-matching datasets, custom character pipelines, and technical review. They are not necessarily short final gameplay clips unless the product is specifically marked as game ready.

Source and interchange formats

Format What it is Best for
Raw Mocap Markers (C3D) Optical marker data from the mocap source pipeline. Advanced solving, research, custom mocap pipelines, and technical studios that want marker-level data.
Solved Actor Rig (BVH) Solved skeleton motion in BVH format. Animation tools and pipelines that prefer BVH for import, cleanup, conversion, or retargeting.
Solved Actor Rig (FBX) Solved actor skeleton animation in FBX format, without a character mesh. MotionBuilder, Maya, Blender, Unreal, Unity, and custom animation pipelines.
Solved & Prepared 60fps (FBX) A prepared FBX export resampled to 60 fps where available. More convenient editing, previewing, and integration when you do not need the full raw source frame rate.

Retargeted skeleton variants

Some products include retargeted FBX variants for common character rigs. These are provided as practical starting points and compatibility helpers. They may still need adjustment for your exact character proportions, engine setup, controller, root-motion policy, and animation blueprint.

  • UE5 Manny Rig: Unreal Engine 5 Manny-style skeleton.
  • UE5 MetaHuman Rig: MetaHuman-oriented retargeted skeleton where available.
  • Unity 6 Rig: Unity-oriented armature export.
  • Mixamo Rig: Mixamo-style skeleton variant.
  • iClone / CC Rig: Character Creator / iClone-oriented skeleton variant.

Reference video

Reference videos, where available, show the performed motion for review, timing, and animation decisions. Reference video is useful for judging acting intent, weight shifts, contact timing, and performance quality before working with the animation data. Reference media is not a substitute for the source animation format unless a product is explicitly sold as reference-only.

Complete bundle

The complete bundle contains every available download format for the selected product. It is the safest option if you want the full source data plus prepared, retargeted, and reference files where they exist for that product.

Frame rates

Frame rates can vary by file type. Raw marker or BVH/C3D data may keep the source capture rate, raw FBX exports may use the mocap system export rate, and prepared or retargeted FBX files may be resampled to a delivery frame rate such as 60 fps. Check each product's specifications for the exact export frame-rate summary.

Licenses

Indie and Pro are pricing and eligibility tiers. They do not change which source files are delivered for a chosen format. See the full license for current terms.
